Land Rights in Kenya: Land Rates and Taxes.

in 2015 having been suspended in 1985. CGT is charged at the rate of 5% of the gain. There are various exemptions on CGT provided under the ITA. The tax on rental income is a tax arising from the gains and profits for occupation of property. The ITA provides for various ways of taxing rental income; Where the rent is payable to a non-resident, the tenant is required to withhold 30% of the rent and remit it to the Kenya Revenue Authority. The tax withheld is a final tax. Where the rent is payable to a resident, if the property is commercial, the tenant being an appointed agent, is required to withhold 10 % of the rent. The tax withheld is not a final tax and the landlord is required to file their income tax in the usual way. Where the rent is payable to a resident and the property is residential, the landlord may opt to either pay a monthly rental income tax, computed at 10 % of the gross rent a (final tax) or pay the instalment tax and final income tax in the usual way.    Drug use puts you at higher risk of TB In Summary Drug and alcohol abusers may not access a diet that provides all the nutrients needed to stay healthy They may fail to adhere to their treatment, which may lead to drug-resistant TB People who abuse drugs or alcohol have a greater risk of contracting tuberculosis. The use of drugs and excessive consumption of alcohol damage a person’s organs and weaken their defenses (immune system) against illnesses such as TB. Drug and alcohol abusers may not access a diet that provides all the nutrients needed to stay healthy; they may fail to adhere to their treatment, which may lead to drug-resistant TB, and they may also spend time in places where it’s easier for TB to spread, such as crowded or poorly ventilated homes or social venues. TB patients with a substance abuse problem may not access health services in time and if they do, they may fail to take their medication as prescribed. Untreated TB is highly contagious and may be fatal, this me

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES

Next year will be tough for incoming President The new government will be challenged especially in creating jobs and ending corruption In Summary •There will be a potential challenge on inflation to keep watch on. Many businesses across sectors will do well. •There is a likelihood of a lot of emigration of so many Kenyans to foreign countries in search of better livelihood or seek employment opportunities. A police officer guards ballot boxes in Eldoret after the August 8, 2017 general election.   It is about eight to another general election but from the activities on the ground, you would think the poll will be in a month or so. The top seat is the most prime position to fight for in the Kenyan political space. The Deputy President seat based on the experience we have so far is for positioning one strategically especially for future political contests or career growth. In a sense having witnessed the Deputy President seat reduced to almost a ‘flower girl’ position in the last term

HOW HITLER SEDUCED GERMANY WITH SPEECHES

HOW HITLER SEDUCED GERMANY WITH SPEECHES 1   Almost everyone finds it appropriate to consider Adolf Hitler a synonym of evil. However, one wonders how Hitler gained popularity and support of Germans even though he was wicked. A review of his speeches reveals that Hitler was exceptional in manipulating people and good at using strategic propaganda techniques. Most importantly, he was conscious of his skills and he was quoted to have said, “I am conscious that I have no equal in the art of swaying the masses” (Gigliotti, 2001). His success in moving masses is certain evidence that the Nazi leader was accurate in his sentiments. The ability to deliver engaging speeches is an important skill for anyone who needs to convince masses and it does not matter who or what the speaker is. However, the speech must demonstrate good knowledge of pressing issues that the audience may consider important for an address. Hitler knew what majority of the people wanted to hear. He

COVID

Trigger of rare blood clots with AstraZeneca jab found AstraZeneca's own scientists also joined the research project In Summary The vaccine is thought to have saved about a million lives from Covid. Concerns about rare blood clots shaped how the vaccine has been used around the world Image:   BBC Scientists believe they have found "the trigger" that leads to extremely rare blood clots after the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine. The team - in Cardiff and the US -   have shown in exquisite detai l how a protein in the blood is attracted to a key component of the vaccine. They think this kicks off a chain reaction, involving the immune system, that can culminate in dangerous clots. The vaccine is thought to have saved about a million lives from Covid. However, concerns about rare blood clots shaped how the vaccine has been used around the world including   an alternative being offered   to the under-40s in the UK. It also started a scientific detective hunt to figure out w

ATTACK ON PEARL HABOR ...80 YEARS LATER

Eighty years ago, 6-year-old Dorinda Makanaonalani Nicholson sat down to a Sunday morning breakfast at home on Hawaii's Pan American airbase when the walls began to shake. It was Dec. 7, 1941, and planes were flying low overhead. She remembers her dad, a civilian, remarking how strange it was for the Army and Navy to engage in practice flights on a Sunday. They ran outside and saw Japanese torpedo bombers skimming the tops of trees along Pearl Harbor.  "I could see the pilots. They were that low and close," Nicholson, 86, told USA TODAY. "I didn’t know at the time they were torpedo planes." Soon, the walls of Nicholson's family's kitchen would have bullets in them. There would be shrapnel in her front yard She still carries a bullet that was lodged into the wall telephone as a memento. "You need to know your history," she said. Tuesday marks eight decades since the shocking attack on Pearl Harbor. The date that changed the course of a nation
