Land Rights in Kenya: Land Rates and Taxes.

The tax on rental income is a tax arising from the gains and profits for occupation of property. The ITA provides for various ways of taxing rental income; Where the rent is payable to a non-resident, the tenant is required to withhold 30% of the rent and remit it to the Kenya Revenue Authority. The tax withheld is a final tax. Where the rent is payable to a resident, if the property is commercial, the tenant being an appointed agent, is required to withhold 10 % of the rent. The tax withheld is not a final tax and the landlord is required to file their income tax in the usual way. Where the rent is payable to a resident and the property is residential, the landlord may opt to either pay a monthly rental income tax, computed at 10 % of the gross rent a (final tax) or pay the instalment tax and final income tax in the usual way. Live Auction Kenya,Game Over?

This weekend, millions of investors in an online auction house known as Live Auction have been left in dilemma after the website broke down and couldn’t perform important actions.From most investors who have since been affected by the risky investment it started as a loading error and matured into a complete website breakdown which made it difficult for investors to make new bids hence stagnating matured shares leaving investors in a state of dilemma.

The company which has gained popularity and melted the hearts of many from its “get rich quick” method of operation works on a peer to peer money transaction which makes it totally powerless on any wrong transaction making it even more risky.It has therefore left millions of Kenyans in a tense situation knowing well the company won’t be accountable on any money lost incase it ceases to exist.

With many loopholes and leaks, investors are left with questions if indeed the auction company will resume its operations, or it will vanish just like previous online affiliate companies and other numerous houses disappeared with investors money.
